HMB and arginine inhibit in parallel two independent groups of catabolic enzymes, which provides a double protection to muscle proteins. Arginine deficiency potently activates, and its sufficient amount inhibits, catabolic processes.
Glutamine inhibits catabolism related to arginine deficiency and to obtaining amino acids from muscles for the needs of other tissues by the body.
Leucine, isoleucine and valine are amino acids which have the highest share in the muscle tissue, which are most rapidly eliminated as a result of catabolism from the proteins, and which – when taken along with the supplement – rapidly penetrate into the muscles and inhibit the activity of catabolic enzymes as a result of saturation of muscle cells with free amino acids.
The whole molecule of arginine acts on transcription – the initial stage of muscle protein production – similarly to anabolic steroid hormones.
This mechanism of action of arginine is supported by glutamine.
Arginine is at the same time the precursor of compounds with strong anabolic properties: polyamine, nitrogen oxide and creatine.
Leucine stimulates the activity of kinases – anabolic enzymes – in a manner similar to hormones: GH, IGF and insulin. At the same time, it is the HMB precursor, and because of this, its elevated level in the muscle tissue is maintained for a long time.
HMB enhances leucine activity against kinases and also supplies molecules for the synthesis of anabolic steroid hormones.
Branched short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), created as a result of metabolic transformations of isoleucine and valine, have a similar action to HMB.
To enhance the effect of action of the most important substances/amino acids in ANTICATABOLAN, esterified amino acids with the highest-potential are used, which in practice are several times more absorbable than the usual forms of amino acids ( - a definite improvement of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, -limited metabolism in the liver, - highest penetrability directly into muscle cells)
